Information, not advice

The guides and tools give general information about specialist cleaning, the law and public services in the UK. They are not legal, financial, medical or safety advice for your situation, and they cannot tell you whether a home is safe to enter. The planners and the who-pays tool list routes and questions; they do not decide who is liable for anything. Where money, a tenancy, an estate or someone’s health is involved, check with the organisation named or take proper advice.

Prices are published figures, not quotes

The cost pages show prices that firms and other sources publish, with their dates. They are not quotes or offers. Only a firm that has assessed the property can quote, and its figure may be higher or lower. Get a written quote before agreeing to anything.

What happens when you send an enquiry

We are not a cleaning company. When you send the enquiry form, we pass your details to one independent firm so it can contact you and quote. An enquiry is a request for that introduction, not an instruction to clean anything. We do not guarantee an introduction, a quote, a visit or a response time, and we may decline an enquiry, for example if no firm covers the area.

The firm is not us

The firm is an independent business, not our employee, agent or subcontractor. Any work you agree is a contract between you and that firm. We are not a party to it and do not supervise the work; the firm alone is responsible for its quote, its conduct and its work. Fees

We do not charge you anything. The firm sets its own price and may pay us a fee if you use it. That does not oblige you to accept its quote.

Your part

• Be 18 or over.
• Give accurate information, and do not submit someone else’s details without their agreement.
• Only arrange work on a property you are entitled to arrange it for, or say in the enquiry that you are asking on someone’s behalf.
• Read the firm’s quote and terms before you instruct it.

You can withdraw an enquiry by emailing contact@thecleanupguide.co.uk. If it has already been passed on, you may also need to tell the firm.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

Subject to that, we are responsible only for loss that is a foreseeable result of our failing to use reasonable care and skill in publishing this site or passing on an enquiry. We are not responsible for anything a firm does or fails to do, for loss caused by information you gave us that was wrong, or for events outside our reasonable control.

Other sites

We link to government, council, charity and firm websites so you can check our sources. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, which changes.

Using our content

The text, tools and illustrations on this site belong to Known By One, LLC. Quote us with a link. Do not republish pages or illustrations wholesale.

Complaints

Complaints about the site or an enquiry go to contact@thecleanupguide.co.uk. Complaints about the cleaning itself go to the firm.

Law and changes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts have jurisdiction, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts. The terms in force when you send an enquiry apply to that enquiry. Your details are handled as the privacy notice describes.
