Privacy notice
The short version: the tools collect nothing about you, and the enquiry form exists so we can pass your enquiry to one cleaning firm that will contact you.

Who we are

Using the tools
The planners, the clutter scale, the cost tool and the checklists run in your browser. Your answers are not sent to us or stored. The postcode search sends the postcode to our server and to postcodes.io to find the council; we do not store it or link it to you.
Using the enquiry form
We collect what the form asks for:
- What the cleaning is for, who you are in the situation, the type of property and when it is needed
- The property’s postcode
- Your name, and your phone number, email address or both
- Any notes you add, and which page you sent the form from
Please do not put more about anyone’s health, or the circumstances of a death, in the notes than the firm needs to plan the job. If your notes do include health information, we use it only to pass your enquiry on, with the consent you give by ticking the box on the form. We keep a record of what happened to your enquiry.
Who receives it
We pass your enquiry to one independent cleaning firm that covers the area, so it can contact you and quote. The firm may pay us a fee if you use it; see how the site is funded. Once the firm has your details, its own privacy notice applies. We may contact you afterwards to ask whether you were contacted and how it went.
Our hosting, email, messaging and data storage providers process your details on our instructions. We may disclose them where the law requires. We do not sell your details or use them for marketing.
Our lawful bases
- Passing your enquiry to the firm: steps you asked us to take, and your consent given on the form.
- Any health information in your notes: your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Keeping records of enquiries, following up and keeping the site secure: our legitimate interest in running the service.
- Records the law requires us to keep: legal obligation.
Processing outside the UK
We are based in the United States, so your details are processed there, and some of our providers process data outside the UK. Where UK law requires it, transfers are protected by approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.
How long we keep it
Up to six months if your enquiry is not passed to a firm, and up to 24 months after the last contact if it is. Records we must keep for tax or legal reasons are kept for up to six years.
Cookies
This site uses no advertising or analytics cookies.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for access to your details, or for them to be corrected, deleted, restricted or sent to you in a portable form, and you can withdraw consent. You can object at any time to our using them on the basis of legitimate interests. Email contact@thecleanupguide.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
